by White Feather Going into an alpha state is something each and every one of us do each and every day. When we're asleep having
a dream we are in an alpha state (or deeper). We slip into an alpha state during the course of our awake lives, too, whenever
we get caught up in a daydream or reverie. We'll even slip into the edges of alpha watching TV. The way I see it, meditation
is a tool that enables us to consciously experience the alpha state of a dream, but without falling asleep.
These
brain states are merely the frequency at which we are vibrating. Picture a dial, like a thermostat. You can move the dial
to various frequency settings. If you move the dial to the very deep theta settings, you are vibrating at a frequency where
you can dialogue with spirit and there is almost no veil separating you from spirit. Real intense dreams are often experienced
at this frequency. Most dreams are at the alpha setting. At this setting there is still a very thin veil, but we can learn
to see right through it at this frequency. Turning the dial to our everyday awake frequency puts us in a vibratory frequency
that no longer matches that of spirit, so a frequency wall is created--this being the veil. Meditation is a matter of bringing
our vibratory frequency in line with spirit so that we can connect.
I forget how many thousands of ways there
are to meditate, but there are seemingly infinite methods of turning that dial. That's all we're doing, really, is
turning a frequency dial. It is something we can do just with our conscious thought, but we can't do it that way until
we've experienced being in that state, so that we have a point of reference. All these various methods help us get to
that point of experiencing the different frequency, so that we know where to turn the dial to. They are just tools to help
get us to venture into that frequency. Once we've traveled consciously in that frequency enough, we realize that it is
just a matter of turning a dial, and we learn to do that with thought. All those methods and tools just help us to direction
thought. Eventually, we can learn to turn that dial with thought in the snap of a finger.
You see, our dials keep
flipping back to the awake state settings because that is a sort of default setting. Mass consciousness is one of the factors
that helps keep all of our dials on this default setting. And when our dials are set there all the time, it can be hard to
turn them. They get stuck. But the more we get that dial off of its default setting, the more we become acclimatized to other
settings. And the more we are consciously in an alpha state, the more we desire it. The more we are consciously in an alpha
state, the more psychic we become, the healthier we become, the more alive we become. To marry the alpha state with our conscious
everyday existence is to be walking in two worlds at the same time, and this is the way we've intended all along to experience
this reality. Full awareness comes when we can consciously experience all the settings on the dial. Full awareness comes when
we break free of the default setting and are in complete control of where our dial is set. Full awareness is the realization
that we do indeed have complete control of the dial. And we can only turn it with our thoughts.
There really are
a zillion different ways to meditate, and each of them are valid if they can get you off the default setting even for just
a few minutes. It's a cumulative thing. The more you get off the default setting, the easier it gets to turn the dial.
You can even use the visualization of a dial as a meditative technique. Whatever technique you use, the important thing is
to get to the point where you can release all the noise. All that brain noise and atmospheric static is the noise of the default
setting. Once you have turned that off then visualize the dial turning a little bit into a slower frequency. You know the
dial is turning when your body gets totally relaxed and the noise disappears. Now this is the point many can't get beyond,
because they think there must be pure silence from then on. But on a radio dial, when you turn the stations, you go through
static after leaving one station, then you hear silence, and then you start hearing static again as you near the new station.
You're not going into pure silence, but you're switching stations. Opening up to and allowing the new station is what
you're trying to do, but unfamiliarity with the new vibration sends us scurrying back to the familiar vibrations of the
default station, so to speak. It simply takes time to get used to the new station.
Meditating every now and then
is great, but ultimately it is something that we want to do 24/7. There are many tools available to help us get to that state,
but we won't get there if we get hung up in the tools. We ultimately want to be free of the tools, since all we really
need to turn the dial is our thoughts. But in the mean time, it only makes sense to use any of the tools at our disposal.
